Supporting County Durham Foodbank with Vital Equipment

21st October 2024

Dyer Engineering has recently supported County Durham Foodbank by providing custom-made sorting tables, designed and manufactured by their team, free of charge.

Run by Durham Christian Partnership, County Durham Foodbank operates 38 distribution centres across the region and in 2023, provided essential food and toiletries to over 35,000 people, including 12,500 children.

Noticing the foodbank’s close proximity to Dyer Engineering’s site, the team were keen to offer support. The initiative began when members of the engineering team visited the foodbank’s warehouse to assess their specific needs. Apprentice Andrew McDowell created the table designs, and the fabrication team brought them to life, delivering and assembling them on site.

The new tables are now in use at the foodbank’s Chester-le-Street warehouse, greatly assisting volunteers with sorting and packing efforts.

Jonathan Conlon, Warehouse & Distributions Manager commented, “We are incredibly grateful to Dyer Engineering for their support. The new tables have made a significant difference to our volunteers, helping to streamline the process and make their work easier.”

Dyer Engineering is committed to supporting the local community it’s been a part of since 1977, embodying their Smarter Stronger Together principles by making a positive and long lasting impact on those around them.

Richard Bradley, Managing Director of Dyer Engineering commented, “We’re proud to have been able to support County Durham Foodbank with a practical solution that directly helps the volunteers who do such vital work in our community. It was a great team effort, from design to assembly, and we’re glad we could contribute in a meaningful way.”
