Hospital Beds – Emergency Large Scale Volume Project
During April 2020 Dyer Engineering have been working in conjunction with one of our current customers in order to support NHS activities and we are very proud to be able to be a part of the activity to manufacture and assemble a large number of hospital beds.
We have worked around the clock to change our shop layouts, manufactured multiple jigs and fixtures, retrained, and re-deployed our staff and set up a robust supply chain. By doing this we have successfully created a weekly capacity able to support with the manufacture and assembly of x500 beds per week over both of our Annfield Plain and Harelaw manufacturing sites.
This has been a huge challenge but a very important one that we felt as a business that we had to do all we could to support on. At this time we were already working on some critical components for other customers but when the opportunity arose we were very keen to make all efforts to be involved in order to help to make a real difference to the front line activities the country is currently undertaking.
From an engineering, manufacturing and logistics viewpoint we took on the extremely tough project to turn on and control so many parts at once from a standing start made even more difficult with the required timescales but with a strong team behind us and proven skills this is a challenge we have overcome. We have worked hard to innovate and find quick solutions to overcome problems as we encountered them, underpinned by our company culture, and working methods of SmarterStrongerTogether.
