EN 15085 certification puts Dyer Engineering on track for new welding contracts in the railway industry

9th October 2020

We are delighted to announce that Dyer Engineering has achieved the EN 15085 Certified standard. The EN 15085 Railway Applications certification, which applies to the welding of railway vehicles and components (CWRVC). This accreditation sets requirements for quality system and welding process approvals, as well as performance qualification for both welders and welding operators.

15085 certified standard welding work at Dyer Engineering

The EN 15085 certified standard is designed to safeguard the quality of rail manufacturing and the accuracy of the components’ performance – driving standards of reliability and environmental protection. While this accreditation may not be familiar to those outside of the rail industry, it is increasingly required by businesses within the sector to ensure that contractors are working to the highest standards and demonstrating competence for control of welding quality.

In order to achieve certification, the Dyer Engineering team were required to undergo an assessment from specialist assessors, instructed by awarding body TWI CL on behalf of the UK Office of Road and Rail (ORR).

Through the achievement of this new accreditation, we are now able to demonstrate our ability to meet a broader range of client requirements, working as an approved supplier to organisations in the railway and transport sectors across Europe. Not only does EN 15085 certification support our customers’ own compliance requirements, this certification also serves to showcase the precision and attention to detail that we have built our reputation on at Dyer Engineering.

Dyer Engineering Development Manager, Lee Farms, explains why this latest addition to the business’s accreditation portfolio is of such significance:

Lee Farms business Development Manager at Dyer Engineering ‘Becoming EN 15085 certified is an important achievement for Dyer Engineering on a number of levels. Not only does it validate the precision and quality of our work for the rail sector, but it also supports the long-term ambitions of the business. Gaining the highest welding standard available in the industry enables us to have conversations with a greater number of potential clients. It presents us with opportunities that would otherwise not be open to us and serves to reaffirm our position as one of the leading fabrication firms in the UK.’

‘There are only a few welding and fabrication specialists in the UK that are 15085 accredited and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team that we now count ourselves as one of them.’
